Bridging Public Transportation

The growth of our local and regional economy depends on our resident’s ability to travel by reasonable means. Right now, people in Cedar Rapids, of all ages and income levels, are overly-dependent on expensive, high maintenance cars. We can maximize the potential of our workforce and students by empowering them to get to their workplaces and schools by working together to build a reliable public transportation network.

The county has already put forth a proposal that would connect the communities in Cedar Rapids and the surrounding areas. The scale of the project will require cooperation from all government parties to secure the funding, plan the most efficient operations to make sure the system is accessible to all who need it. As Mayor I plan on making sure that this system is both reliable and cost efficient and will explore innovative methods to expand the existing bus service. We know public transportation connects communities, decreases air pollution and helps to preserve the natural surroundings.
